DOes anyone know whether the Reel to Reel recorders like the Tascam BR-20 has any sort of noise reduction i.e dbx. I thing the Tascam recorders Portastudio 424 have dbx reduction. Basically I've tried recording to tape to a 2 track porta-2, routing the outputs wither to a Darla card on my pc or through first a mackie 1202 and then through Darla. I have been unsuccesful in converting the signal to digital without reproducing a fair amount of hiss. I was hoping that either a step higher dbx reduction or a few steps up - reel to reel would give me a better cleaner sound - at least as a result of running 15ips. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
