If you're using Windows 98, make sure that you do this checklist:
Double click the speaker icon at the bottom of your desktop. Click options. click properties. "Adjust volume for" select recording.
place a check in all boxes, and click ok. Now make sure that the "line in balance" is up all the way, and not muted. Unfortunately, that is where my pc expertise ends. Good luck.
