If you think about it in a Marketing way...the younger the artist..the longer they will be able to make money (make the label richer)..as opposed to an older artist who may only make them money for one year or so...then not be there. For marketing...they prefer the younger artist. It's the same reason you see beautiful women and handsome men in the country business anyway. They don't care as much about the music as they do your "marketability" factor. If the women will go crazy about you and buy your records (women are the top record buyers)...then they will promote you...sign you...because you will fill their pockets. The longer (younger) you fill their pockets the better.
