I think for the money the Event EMP-1 is absolutely awesome (I think they're about $220). It's just a single mic pre but it does have phantom power as well. They are super clean and don't color your sound with "vintage" overtones. No tubes, very quiet. I've used the ART and it is simply terrible!!! Stay away from it unless you want to completely ruin your recordings (just my opinion). Well, there you have it...my two bits...for what it's worth. Let us know what you finally decide.
