Maybe this is what you are looking for. When recording a vocalist who has pitch problems, a fix that sometimes works well is to get the vocalist to use foam hearing protectors in their ears,no bullshit, then have them put on the headphones and turn them way up BUT dont have any of the live signal in the headphone mix(the vocalist can hear himself quite well because his ears are plugged). The effect is like the occilating vibrations you hear when tuning a guitar. It makes it much easier for the vocalist(me) to keep a decent pitch. Discovered this by accident one day.
