for $500 I'd go up the chain and get something better than the 3630 and behringer multicomp. Both of those are ok but remember - they're only in the $200 range and you get what you pay for.
The DBX ddp is a more but packed with great features and clean crisp sound. Brand new it may be over $500 but check ebay, you might find a used one in great shape there - that's how I got mine and it kicks ass.
