Just got my Musician's Friend catalog.. noticed that the MD8 in there has MIDI in/out/thru...
Any of those MIDI ports send or accept MTC (Midi Time Code)?? If so, you're problem is SOLVED!
Time to break out the manual and see what those MIDI ports are for. If this thing will output MTC then you can easily "slave" a computer-based multitrack prog to the MD8, and transfer tracks to the computer WITH SYNC!!
If not, will the MD8 accept MTC? Some multitrack progs will output MTC, some will not. If so, you could "slave" the MD8 to the computer.
Alternatively, if the MD8 accepts MIDI messages you could set up a midi event that would simultaneously start recording on the computer and playback on the MD8. Dunno how well that would work- but it might.
Alternative #2 would be if the MD8 will accept MMC (midi machine control)- if so you could set up the computer to record while sending a MMC message to the MD8 to start playback. Again, still might not help with sync but it's worth a shot.
Let us know what's happening here... might be a REAL low cost solution for you- the 8-in card wouldn't be as much of a necessity!
