I've had my Wave 8*24 for about a year. I actually preordered one before they were available. I think it's great bang for the buck. In your case, it would cool to track with your MD if you had to record someplace other than where your computer is located. I just pack up my 450MHz PII PC and haul it where I need to record. It's a hassle being a lot of computer equipment but I don't do it often.
I have nothing but praise for the Wave 8*24. It has low noise level and interfaces well with the computer. Make sure you have a free PCI slot in the back of your computer. This is where the module plugs into the card. If you have rack gear the 8 in/out module has rack mounts.
