As an aside, you bring up a good point about the way guitars are EQ'd in a rock mix. Sometimes I listen to a record and think "The band is tight. It looks like rock. It sounds like rock. So why doesn't it ROCK?" Often it's because the guitars take up too much of the space, kind of relegating the drums and bass to secondary roles. In order to rock, you must have some thunder with your lightning. Many, many times have I made the mistake of adding lows and low mids to the guitar while mixing, thinking it would add more body to the sound, not realizing I should be paying more attention to the bass guitar and its mix with the drums. And I still haven't quite got it--I know it but I have to figure out how to apply it. A lot of my misperception had to do with being a guitar player, how I would EQ my guitar amp, esp. for live shows, etc.

It's tricky to make everything come together right. If it were easy, there wouldn't be boards like this and it wouldn't take people years of tweaking knobs every day just to make things sound passable. So, Marco, don't expect to get "THAT SOUND" right away!
