There's good and bad with mp3 as I see it. I'm a recording artist and I have an mp3 page. The good part is the exposure of my music and not just here in the states but all over the world. As an independent artist...you need that exposure. It has given me also music contacts that I otherwise would never have found. The bad thing is that there are crooks in every business..and especially the music business. Most often, artists reach a certain point and hope to achieve their dreams and crooks take advantage when you are vulnerable and promise you many things.
I spent a ton of money to produce an album on my own. I've never realized any royalties...only spotty album sales from my page at mp3. It's not that my music stinks either...but sometimes I feel like I'm giving music away and I've really put my heart into it. When you put so much into something, you would hope that people would "appreciate" (buy, support) you as an artist for your efforts. I'm not saying buy everything...you have to do promotional things by giving away some music in order to get somewhere. There's just good and bad in every industry, business. Sometimes we just have to take the bad with the good in order to go somewhere. Just my opinion.
