hey, i'd like some opinions on the TRUE nature of 8-track cassette recorders. is this whole "stretching-the-tape-too-thin" thing REALLY a problem? i'm looking at getting a TASCAM 488mkII or a YAMAHA MT8XII. which one is better? would it be better if i just went digital and bought, say, a korg D-8? i'm going to be recording fairly quiet songs (beatles, elliott smith).
