Ihad a 38 once. I didn't mind it at all. But I'll tell
you, if you ever go to a big format (1" eight, 2" sixteen,
possibly 2" twenty four fits in there barely)
you will NEVER in a million
years figure out why you even owned a half inch
eight. Tape cost is always a factor, and I haven't
a/b'd a 38 with digital--which completely eliminates
tape cost. My guess is the digital
may win. But so far digital is not even close to
the bigger formats in fullness, warmth, depth,
yada yada yada,. I mean, look at all the millions
of dollars being made by all the companies now making
tube gear (most of it not even close to being sonically
accurate)! All this stuff is being sold to people
trying to undigital their stuff.
