Hi Slider, hope you're enjoying your time down there in Florida. You've heard my Freefall CD, which was done using lots of Midi sequencing. I sync the computer software (Power Tracks Pro Audio) with my ADATs similar to how Crippled Rich does it. The only difference is that I use SMPTE timecode on one of the ADAT tracks and sync the software with an MQX-32M midi interface card by Opcode. This set-up has worked flawlessly for me and I love the flexibility of using midi sequencing in conjunction with audio. You can do a whole orchestra and not worry about having enough tracks. Also midi requires minimal CPU or RAM (a 486 would have no problem) and takes up almost no HD space. It also allows you the flexibilty to come back and edit and fine tune the sequenced parts at anytime. And you know, if it is used tastefully and properly done, can sound just as good as the real thing. Most people didn't recognize that most of my CD was done with sampled bass played on my guitar synth.

IMHO music is about mood and feelings and it shouldn't matter what medium is used to create your mood. If it works and paints the right picture, then who is to say why or how you get there. Too many musicians put their blinders on and lock themselves into the closet, by limiting themselves to only one way of thinking.

Okay I'll go back to work now and shut up.

Take Care Slider
