I use 2 AKG c1000s mics to record high schools bands. I set the mic stand about 5 feet behind the conductor with the mics about 2 feet over his head. Mics are aimed about 10 oclock and 2 oclock or at 1/4 and 3/4 to center of depth. If this isn't clear let me know.
