while this is somewhat true,it is also true that if someone spends the entire evening trying to make themselves heard they will definately be yelling instead of singing and WILL go hoarse. Has nothing to do with knowing how to sing, talent, or whatever. It has to do with the way people will do whatever they can to be heard, like singing louder or strumming strings harder, or hitting drums harder. I have yet to see anyone that will sing (or play) at one consistient level regardless of whether they can hear themselves or not- after 15 years of dealing with vocalists and oft-substandard PA systems I can say honestly that if you have the singer low in the mix he/she will hurt themselves trying to be heard.
