I'm a bit wary of editing with punch in/out ...
It's a lot better when you have a unit like the D80 or T238 to pre-set the in/out points, but it's still possible to make it seamless with a pedal. The problem for me is that there's still the actual sound variation to contend with.
I've fallen foul of Slider's "finish the track and do it later" approach, because I haven't recorded (as in made a written note of!) all the mixer gain and eq settings meticulously. The result is that the later-inserted section sounds just that bit different and is noticeable on replay. If you do the editing in the same session as the original recording, with none of the settings changed, it should be ok.
