Give us a discription of your signal path from the mic to the computer. Is it mic, mic pre, mixer,sound card or what? The clipping could be caused by having any of those devices turned up too much. It may not be the mics. I am not familiar with your mics either. Can't go wrong buying a 57 anyway. If you could have only one dynamic mic that would be it! An old standard for micing amp cabs! I have 4 of 'em.
