Hi. Most mastering guys would say no. They'll have $4000 compressors and can add as much as they want... but can't undo any compression that has already occurred. I guess I'd say if you already know for sure you are going to have it mastered and can get all the levels right without adding any compression at mix... it is probably best not to compress. Or use compression on individual channels all you want, but don't compress the final stereo mix going to the 2-track master. They can do that.
