Hi Dan! Long Time Been A-Workin'...
Regret I've been too busy to Post here in AGES....
BUT..had to tellya "DON'T YOU EVER GROW OLD" caught the ear of the Son of My Producer, Gene Allen, Mar. 12-14 when we were recordin' my "Freshman CD" at Frontier Music Studios in Brandon. "Junior" went outside & SULKED Until his Dad finally LISTENED To It!!!
We were down to One Last Song to Record, (10 in All) and my Vocals were Thoroughly Shredded..(Florida Singers should just STAY AWAY from Missouri AIR in The WINTER Time..I had Bleedin' Sinusses, & Coughed Non-Stop, between Takes!)
Anyways, rememberin' YOUR Nice "Husky Vocals" on the Tracks YOU Laid, I sorta just-Imitated-Ya..heh-heh..and the Band Played ON! Got It in One Take!
Should Mention, Gene lined up Mickey Gilley's Piano Player, Mel Tillis' Pedal Steel, and Janie Fricke's Ex-Background Vocalists (LORDY, these 2 Aussi Gals can HARMONIZE!), & All the Other Band-Members were right outta the "Grand Old Ladies of Country Music" Show on The Strip there...{Got to see Helen Cornelius & Leona Williams free, thanks to them!} WHAT a Band, Mate!
I gotta go back to Re-Cut Vocals on the ONE Song Half a Bottle of Jim Beam wouldn't Fix..the 27th of This Month..(Studio's doin' it FREE..are those Bransonites GREAT People or WHAT?) Also meetin' with Mickey Gilley, thanks to Tommie, our Piano Man who took 4 Songs BACK to Mickey...(and Ray Stevens, got 2 Forwarded from Chris Armstrong, our Session's Engineer!) Gene thinks a Buddy of His, Jim Stafford, might like 2 more off this CD. (And..Gene is gonna see if "The Rolling Stones" might be interested in "DYEGO"..via a Nashville Chum of His. {You'll see WHY..when I sendya The CD..heh-heh! Guitarist obviously has a "Keith Richards Gene" or Two!}
Anyways, EVABODY likes this Song of Ours so much, it's become the TITLE Song for my "Freshman Effort." Congrats, Ya Ol' Co-Writer, you!
Now..I Need your Snail Addy & PRO Affiliation again..(I joined BMI a Month ago...about Time, Eh?)
Lookin' Forwards to Hearin' from Ya Again..after Such a Long Time it's BEEN, Eh? (HEY...Don't YOU Ever Grow Old..heh-heh!) {Forgot to tellya..was ONE WEEK Away from gettin' that song to TOM PETTY's DAD, & The Ol' Guy Up-&-DIED on us! Talk about FATE, EH?}
