Subject: Is everybody here on Zanax or what?
Posted by: old_dan
Seems like all the songs lately are about people dying, stuff blowing up etc. I know, I did my part too but I think it's time to lighten up a bit.

So, I'm going to repost one I did on the old Freedom Exchange. It's in reply to Mr. Meanie (remember him?) and his post about cliches that you're not supposed to use. Enjoy

(title) We'll Meet Again

Crying in the pouring rain
looking thru your window pane.
I miss your smile, I miss your touch.
But that court order was really too much.

Oh baby you make me so sad
And you're the best I ever had.
As I sat in jail that night
I knew everything would be all right.

You would learn of our precious love,
so beautiful like the stars above.
My love for you, it never stops.
You didn't need to call the cops.

(chorus)
the walls tell me to talk to her,
The law says I was stalking her.
She has to know I want to be her friend,
In three to five we'll meet again.

Oh baby you know my love is true,
My only thought is always of you.
I sent you a poem straight from the heart
In court you said it was just the start.

When the judge said guilty I saw you smile,
you were thinking of me all the while.
This prison cell can't keep us apart,
when I get out we'll make a new start.

So I stare out the bars at the silvery moon.
They say my parole comes up a year from June.
But as Bubba comes this way again
the pain starts up and tears fall like rain.

(chorus)
the walls tell me to talk to her,
The law says I was stalking her.
She has to know I want to be her friend,
In three to five we'll meet again.

(tag)
you'll see me again,
oh yes you will.

Dan,

demise of a neighbor's favorite pet (based on an urban legend).  Chuck Brown was kind enough to do music and vocals to this sad tale.

'Bout time someone put that old joke to music.

Cheers

well, its kinda funny, but then again, it kinda isn't.... I am glad to say I have never been stalked.  Lucky I guess, but I know someone who has, and its not a funny thing.

But, of course, I know this is just in jest.  Obviously this was NOT written for mass appeal.  More in the vein of a comedy writer...

Whats the music like old dan?

song

First, didn't mean to offend anyone, specially you. Did'nt think about the scarier side of it. In my mind when I wrote this the woman was the strong one (she called the cops and had his butt thrown in jail) and the guy is a wimp. And as a final touch he's now Bubba's girl.

As far as music, I've never even bothered. This was just an attempt to get in as many cliches as I could. And I think I got most of them in.

And Jt, excellent take on the old story. I had one person tell me the story and swore it was 'God's honest truth'.
