Dan's taking a little sabbatical right now but should be back in a couple of months.  In the meantime he asked me to keep the board up. Cuz I like Dan and he's done a lot for this community I said I would.

I know that this board has been kinda down but I think it can be a very helpful resource. I would appreciate any ideas on how we can make it a more vibrant site.

Thanks,
Dan (the other Dan)

Weeell. I have a few ideas, feel free to shoot them down.

1. A different "Freedom Exchange" logo, instead of the text on top of the page now.

2. An eye catching photo or two on the front page of a studio, or gear...

3. Roll over links? Maybe?

4. Personally, I think the front page is getting a little congested. It seems to me that there is like 3-5 links that all take you to the same part of the site.

5. There's a book store, so how about setting up a shirt shop? You could sell "Freedom Exchange" tees to help support the site, and you could let others put up their band or studio tees to help support them too.

I don't mean to sound blunt. I love the site! It's not like it looks like crap or anything, maybe just a gimmick or two to make it more eye appealling.

Well... ready... aim...

My first thought is... change the color... I have old eyes and it is hard for me to read. I like the colors on the main recording board best. I forgot why I don't read some of the boards like this one... but, now I remember.. it's because I can't read it without it hurting my old eyes. Just an idea. ~Joe

I think you misunderstood the post. It's about this board - The Freedom Exchange. As for the other ideas, duck!

Got any ideas? Love to look at them.

2. An eye catching photo or two on the front page of a studio, or gear...
Load time is an issue. It's a catch 22. The better the pic the larger it is, the larger it is the more time it takes to load, the more time it takes to load the less likely folks will stay around to let it load.

3. Roll over links? Maybe?
50/50 on those. They don't excite me enough to go to the trouble of putting them in.

4. Personally, I think the front page is getting a little congested. It seems to me that there is like 3-5 links that all take you to the same part of the site.
The links are there by design. I want to direct folks to certain parts of the site so I give them several ways to get there. Old marketing trick. I agree with the congestion but there's x amount of info I want to present and y amount of space to put it in.

5. There's a book store, so how about setting up a shirt shop? You could sell "Freedom Exchange" tees to help support the site, and you could let others put up their band or studio tees to help support them too.
Interesting idea.

No problem. I don't mind criticism as long as it constructive.  I like the way you presented your ideas.

Oops, guess I should be getting a little more sleep...

I don't have any ideas for logos, just a thought.

I see what you mean about the index page. I took another look at it. It seams like there is good link placement.

Check out http://www.cafepress.com for the tee idea. You upload a design, "put" it on a tee, and pass out the link to your store. We just started ours a few months ago, and have sold a couple. Really, you can make whatever you want on them, you pick the price that the tee will sell for, and you get a cut.

Our store is http://www.cafepress.com/lsdmerch1.

Hope this gives you a few ideas...

Let me think about the tee shirt thing a bit. Interesting idea tho.

btw, the link to your pic isn't working. Do you want to copy it over to this site?

That would be sweet. I guess they got tired of me swiping their gif... What do you need? How do I get it here?
